Psychosocial Support

JRS Kosovo recognizes that forced displacement, uncertainty about legal status, and the challenges of starting life in a new country can deeply impact the mental health and wellbeing of individuals and families.

Many refugees, asylum seekers, and repatriated persons in Kosovo have experienced trauma, separation, or long periods of instability. This disruption can weaken the personal and community-based support systems that are essential for resilience and healing.

In response, JRS Kosovo provides layered and holistic psychosocial support, tailored to meet the diverse needs of the individuals and communities we accompany. Our approach focuses on rebuilding a sense of safety, belonging, and hope through a range of complementary services, including:

  • Individual and group counselling
  • Case management for vulnerable individuals and families
  • Community based activities and safe spaces that foster social connection and emotional wellbeing
  • Capacity-building for staff of the centers and local and national institutions

Our psychosocial programmes are embedded across all JRS Kosovo activities, from education and livelihoods to advocacy and accompaniment. With a focus on restoring human dignity and promoting social cohesion, we strive to ensure that every person we serve feels heard, respected, and supported on their journey.

Rooted in the JRS mission of accompaniment, we aim not only to respond to needs, but to walk alongside each person with warmth, presence, and solidarity.
