Advocacy
At JRS Kosovo, advocacy means standing alongside refugees, asylum seekers, and repatriated persons to ensure they are treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. It involves supporting individuals to understand and claim their rights, while also working to influence public institutions, policies, and attitudes to create a more inclusive society.
Our advocacy focuses on several key areas:
- Access to rights and services: JRS Kosovo advocates for fair and timely asylum procedures, the right to work, access to education and healthcare, and the right to adequate housing and integration support.
- Individual case support: On a daily basis, our team supports individuals facing administrative, or social obstacles by engaging with relevant authorities, ensuring basic needs are met, and protecting their rights.
- Public awareness and perception: Through campaigns, media outreach, and community engagement, we work to challenge prejudice, combat xenophobia, and foster empathy and understanding between displaced people and host communities.
- Policy dialogue and collaboration: JRS Kosovo actively collaborates with state institutions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, municipalities, and civil society to improve integration frameworks and advocate for policies that reflect justice and human dignity.
While our work is rooted in the local context, we also contribute to regional and European level advocacy through the JRS network, ensuring that the voices and experiences of displaced people in Kosovo are heard in broader conversations about migration, human rights, and shared responsibility.
